# How do I create and tax a Banquet Item?

To create and apply tax to a Banquet Item, you must use the Masters menu. Follow these specific steps:

1\. **Navigate to Banquet Item:** Go to the Masters menu and select Banquet Item.

2\. **Initiate New Item:** Click the New button.

3\. **Enter Identification Details:** Provide a unique Item Id and the Item Name.

4\. **Assign Groups and Tax:**

◦ Click the Group button to categorize the item.

◦ Click on Tax Structure to select and apply the appropriate tax settings for the item.

5\. **Configure Additional Links:**

◦ Click on Venue to associate the item with specific locations.

◦ Click on Analysis Group to link it for reporting purposes.

◦ Click on Link Revenue and choose the correct category from the Revenue Search.

6\. **Finalize:** Once all details are entered, click the Save button to create the item.

If you are setting up other types of billable items, such as Plan Items or Open Items, the process is similar:

• For Plan Items, you navigate to Masters > Banquet Settings (or the specific Plan Items master if available) and enter the Plan Id, Name, Rate, and Tax Structure before linking to a Revenue Group and saving.

• For Open Items, you select the Banquet Group, enter the item name and Sale Rate, and then click Tax Structure to define its taxation before saving.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.rbsgo.com/banquet/banquet-module/masters/faq-on-masters/how-do-i-create-and-tax-a-banquet-item.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
