# Devices

## **Overview**

The Devices section is used to configure devices that can be connected to DinePlan according to the restaurant's requirements. By default, the available device types are DineFly, used as a waiter ordering app, and DineMenu, used as a tablet menu.

The section also allows users to create, edit, delete, and sort configured devices.

* Configure **DineFly** devices for waiters to take and submit customer orders directly from the table.
* Configure **DineMenu** devices to provide customers with a tablet-based menu for viewing available products.
* Assign devices to specific terminals, menus, and departments when different service areas require different configurations.
* Capture the number of customers seated at a table through **PAX** when the guest count is required for the ordering process.
* Hold selected items when different courses need to be prepared or served at different times during the same order.
* Configure separate devices for different restaurant areas when each area follows a different ordering workflow.
* Assign appropriate bill templates and printers when devices in different service areas require different printing configurations.
* Maintain and organize multiple connected devices so each device can support the required ordering and service operations.

### **Notes**

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.rbsgo.com/dineplan/backoffice/settings/devices.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
