# How do I split a room bill between two sharers?

To split a room bill between two guests sharing a room (sharers), the system provides several methods depending on whether you want to set up the split at the beginning of the stay or handle it manually during checkout.

1. **During Reservation (The Sharer Button)**

When initially creating the reservation, you can designate the stay as a shared booking:

* **Enable Sharer Status:** While entering guest details, tick the Sharer button box to indicate the bill will be shared.
* **Master Configuration:** For this to work correctly, the room must be eligible in the backend; ensure the sharer room option is enabled in the Room Master for that specific room number.

2. **Automated Bill Splitting (Routing)**

If you want the system to automatically divide the charges (such as the room tariff) between the two sharers throughout their stay, use the Routing tool:

* **Access Routing:** Click the Routing button after the guests and room have been assigned.
* **Assign Splits:** In the "Assign to" field, enter 2 (for two guests).
* **Select Guests:** Use the Edit split button to assign each split to the respective guest's name.
* **Choose Revenues:** Double-click the Group/Revenue field to select the specific charges (e.g., Room Tariff, Taxes) that should be automatically divided between their folios.

3. **During Checkout (Manual Split)**

If the guests request to split the bill at the end of their stay, you can perform this in the Checkout screen within the Cashier module:

* **Amount Split:** Use this option if the guests want to divide a specific charge by a certain value. You can split the amount percentage-wise (e.g., 50/50) or by a specific amount. Select the revenue item, enter the split details, and click Split Amount.
* **Bill Split:** If you need to generate entirely separate physical bills, select Bill Split. You can assign different revenue items to different bill numbers (e.g., Bill "1" for Guest A and Bill "2" for Guest B), and the system will generate them accordingly.

4. **Group Reservations**

If the sharers are part of a group booking, you can use the Split button within the Group Reservation screen. Select the reservation line, click Split, and enter the number of splits required to divide the booking between all guests.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.rbsgo.com/front-office-module/fo-reserv/faq-on-reservations/how-do-i-split-a-room-bill-between-two-sharers.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
