# Bank Reconciliation

**Bank Reconciliation** is the process of comparing and matching transactions recorded in the accounting software with transactions reflected in the bank statement. This ensures that the bank balance in the system is accurate, up-to-date, and synchronized with the actual bank records.

## Steps for Bank Reconciliation

Step 1: Navigate to the **General Ledger** module.

1. Click **Transaction** from the menu.
2. Select **Bank Reconciliation** option.

* The Bank Reconciliation screen will be displayed.

Step 3: Choose the required **From Date** and **To Date** for the reconciliation period.

1. Define the time range for which transactions need to be compared with the bank statement.
2. Click the **Display** button.

* The system displays all transactions for the selected bank account and period.

Step 4: Click the **Advanced Search** option.![](https://4060887901-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F2ktZUs9CJyincVDXEmrM%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-949036e67be367567920a0db94ff9468b006b881%2FScreenshot%20From%202026-06-08%2011-11-58.png?alt=media)

1. Various filtering and sorting options will be available to help locate specific transactions.

Step 5: Review the displayed transaction list carefully.

1. Verify all transaction details, including Debit/Credit type and reference details

Step 6: Identify transactions that have been recorded in the accounting software, and successfully reflected in the bank statement.

1. Select the corresponding voucher details from the transaction list.
2. Mark the transaction as **Reconciled**.

* The selected transaction is prepared for reconciliation.

Step 7: Enter the date on which the transaction was cleared or realised by the bank.

1. Verify the selected voucher details and reconciliation date.

* The reconciliation date should match the date on which the transaction appears in the bank statement.

* The selected transactions are successfully reconciled and updated in the system.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.rbsgo.com/general-ledger/general-ledger-module/gl-transaction/gl-transaction-bank-reconciliation.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
