# Reconciliation Reversing

**Reconciliation Reversing** is the process of undoing or canceling a previously completed bank reconciliation. This feature allows users to correct errors, make adjustments, or reprocess transactions that were reconciled incorrectly.

When a reconciliation is reversed, the selected transactions are reopened and become available for reconciliation again. This ensures that transaction records remain accurate and aligned with the bank statement.

## Steps for Reconciliation Reversing

Step 1: Navigate to the General Ledger module.

1. Click **Transaction** from the menu.
2. Select **Reconciliation Reversing** option.

* The Reconciliation Reversing screen will be displayed.

Step 2: Select the bank account for which the reconciliation needs to be reversed.

* The selected bank account is loaded for reconciliation reversal processing.

Step 3: Choose the appropriate **From Date** and **To Date** corresponding to the period in which the transactions were originally reconciled.

1. Ensure that the selected date range includes the transactions you want to reverse.
2. Click the **Display** button.

* The system displays all reconciled transactions within the selected period.

Step 4: Click the **Advanced Filter** option.![](https://4060887901-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F2ktZUs9CJyincVDXEmrM%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-949036e67be367567920a0db94ff9468b006b881%2FScreenshot%20From%202026-06-08%2011-11-58.png?alt=media)

1. Apply the required search criteria.

* The transaction list is filtered based on the selected criteria.

Step 5: Review the displayed transactions carefully.

1. Verify the transaction details before proceeding with the reversal.

* You can review **Credit (CR)/Debit** (DR) transactions and Foreign currency transactions.
* Ensure that the **Closing Balance** and **Balance as per Bank Statement** are verified for accuracy before making any changes.

Step 6: Identify the transaction(s) that were reconciled incorrectly.

1. Select the required reconciled transaction(s) from the list.
2. Mark the selected transaction(s) for reversal.

* The selected reconciled entries are prepared for reversal.

Step 7: Confirm the selected transactions.

* The reconciliation status of the selected transaction(s) is removed.
* The transaction(s) become unreconciled.
* The transaction(s) are made available again for future reconciliation.

Step 8: If required, use multiple filters to locate specific transactions more efficiently( example: bill-wise or amount-wise search).

* The reconciliation reversal is successfully saved, and the selected transactions are available for reconciliation again.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.rbsgo.com/general-ledger/general-ledger-module/gl-transaction/gl-transaction-bank-reconciliation-reversing.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
