# How do I report missing or damaged items?

To report missing or damaged items, such as special amenities or linen in rooms or public areas, you must use the Missing & Damage transaction in the Housekeeping module.Follow these steps to record the incident:1. Access the Transaction

* Navigate to the House Keeping main menu.
* Click on Missing & Damage.

2\. Enter Item and Informer Details

* **Select Item:** Choose the specific item from the list. This list is filtered based on your master settings.
* **Quantity:** Enter the number of items that are missing or damaged.
* **Informer Details:** Enter the name of the informer and the name of the person being informed.
* **Dates:** The system defaults to the current date and time for both the transaction and when the person was informed, though these can be manually adjusted to previous or future dates.

3\. Specify the Nature and Location of the Incident

* Transaction Type: Select whether the entry is for a missing item or a damaged item.
* **Location:** Select the Location type to filter and select the specific area where the incident occurred.
* **Detailed Description:** Provide a thorough description of the missing or damaged item (up to 250 characters).

4\. Determine Action and Financial Impact

* **Action Taken:** Select how the issue is being handled, such as charging the staff, guest, or company.
* **Amount Charged:** Enter the charge amount. This information is passed to the front office from the housekeeping department.
* **Replacement Date:** Specify the date the item is expected to be replaced.

5\. Finalize the Report

* Click the Save button to complete the entry.
* Upon saving, the system will automatically generate a DOC No for the transaction.

To track these incidents later, you can view the Missing & Damage Details report under the Housekeeping module's Reports menu to see item details, quantities, and relevant remarks for inventory control

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.rbsgo.com/housekeeping/housekeeping-module/hk-transactions/faq-on-transaction/how-do-i-report-missing-or-damaged-items.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
