# How do I allocate KOT printers?

To allocate KOT printers, you can use several different methods depending on whether you want to assign them by product group, by specific items within an outlet, or by a specific computer system.

**1. Allocation by Product Group**

This is the standard method used to assign KOT printers to entire groups of products.

* **Navigate to the Menu:** Go to **Master1 > Kot > Kot printer Allocation.**
* **Access the List:** Click the Open button.
* **Select Printer:** Click on printer location to see the list of previously created KOT printers.
* **Assign Groups:** Select the appropriate product group for each printer location.
* **Save:** Click the save button to update the configuration.

**2. Allocation by Outlet and Item**

If you need more granular control, you can allocate printers to specific items within a particular outlet.

* **Navigate to the Menu:** Go to **Master3 > Outlet-Item Printer Allocation.**
* **Access the Menu:** Click the Open button.
* **Select Outlet:** Choose the relevant outlet and click the add button.
* **Assign Printer:** Select the specific printer name and click Save.

**3. Allocation by System, Outlet, and Item**

This method allows you to allocate items to a KOT printer based on both the outlet and the specific computer system (terminal) being used to place the order.

* **Navigate to the Menu:** Go to **Master3 > Outlet - Item System Kot Printer Allocation.**
* **Start New Entry:** Click the New button.
* **Define Parameters:** Select the Outlet name and the specific System.
* **Select Items:** Click the Add button and choose the items to be allocated.
* **Save:** Click the save button to finalize

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.rbsgo.com/point-of-sale/point-of-sale-module/masters-1/faq-on-masters/how-do-i-allocate-kot-printers.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
